Let’s clear up any confusion: Our Company is MEPS Real-Time, Inc. and we develop and produce Intelliguard® RFID Solutions for Critical Inventory. Our solutions support error prevention, efficiency and cost containment in hospital pharmacy operations.
MEPS® Stands for: Medication Error Prevention Systems
Our corporate name, MEPS® has special meaning and significance.
It’s actually an acronym that stands for Medication Error Prevention Systems and was established originally as a division of Safety Syringes Inc. where we specialized in the development of anti-needlestick devices for prefilled syringes. Following the successful acquisition of Safety Syringes, Inc. by BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) (NYSE: BDX), the founders conceived of the use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) as a paradigm-shifting technology that could benefit the safety and efficiency of hospital pharmacy operations, and Intelliguard RFID Solutions for Critical Inventory was born.
Our experience spans RFID and Medication Safety, and our team has served in senior management roles at Cardinal/Carefusion, IVAC, American Hospital Supply, Devon Industries (now within Covidian), SterilTek (now Steris), Safety Syringes, Inc. (now BD), Noved Medical (now within Smiths Medical), SCS (early leader in 2.45GHz and UHF Technology), Awarepoint (RFID/RTLS), and TeleTracking (patient flow and OR capacity management).
