We work with the distinguished Rady Children’s Hospital here in San Diego, whose annual Dream Big event hosted by the Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation offers patients and their families a day of family-friendly activities and entertainment. While the physical event is on pause this year, adhering to health ordinances for COVID-19, the Dream Big initiative continues to focus on bringing the community together – safely and remotely – as a testament to the organization’s ongoing commitment to each kid and the medical teams caring for them.
We are proud to serve Rady Children’s Hospital with our IntelliGuard Kit and Tray Management System via advanced RFID technology to track and replenish anesthetic drugs. But our work extends beyond a professional partnership. One of our team members is a “Rady parent” whose story personally serves as a reminder of why we are so passionate about supporting this lifechanging organization.
Peter Hanel (IntelliGuard Production Lead) – Avery’s Story
Peter and his wife Alex have an eight-year-old daughter, Avery. At just 18 months, Avery was unfortunately diagnosed with leukemia. Over the course of a year, Avery underwent an excruciating amount of blood and platelet transfusions, bone marrow biopsies and chemotherapy. 
After an unexpected spleen removal, doctors at Rady Children’s Hospital discovered Avery had an incredibly rare form of leukemia known as juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia, which affects young children. With their expertise and resources, doctors were able to perform a successful stem cell transplant, allowing Avery to be released from the hospital, join her parents at home and live a healthy life.
This is just one example of many that highlights the great work and team at Rady Children’s Hospital. By implementing tools and systems to reduce time spent on administrative tasks, the entire staff provides unmatched patient care, from the simplest procedures to emergency surgeries and treating rare diseases. IntelliGuard is honored to supply those tools for Rady Children’s Hospital anesthesiologists to ensure accurate management and proper administration of medication.
